Kidney Kidnections Book

‘Kidney Kidnections’ is more than just a story book, it is an account of the experiences of children and their parents struggling to come to terms with a diagnosis of kidney disease.
Simone Eyles, herself a parent of a young child with kidney disease produced and developed this wonderful publication, which contains inspirational and uplifting insights into the journeys experienced by our Australian kidney families.
Included are the stories of eighteen families, simple facts on kidney disease, how our kidneys work and a glossary of relevant, easy to understand terminology.
Copies of the beautiful 80 page, full colour publication are available for sale and proceeds will support our fight against kidney disease. A book of real stories of families whose children have been affected by kidney disease

Joshua’s Story – Through The Eyes of his Mother Melina
"Our lives were turned upside down when I was 30 weeks pregnant. I had gone for a routine ultrasound when the radiographer went silent and all I could see on the monitor were three big black circles on my little unborn baby’s stomach. She asked me if I had had my 18-week ultrasound done. I’d had that scan done and it had shown that everything was normal. I told the radiographer this, and she told me to go back to my obstetrician and have more scans done; this is when our nightmare began. After more tests were done, I was told one of my baby’s kidneys was full of cysts and they could not even locate the other one. So for eight long weeks we waited for our baby to be born, not knowing if he even had a kidney that could function. These were very dark times for my husband and myself".
