Our Mission Vision and Values

Celebrating 40 YearsKidney Health Australia, first incorporated 9 August 1968, is a non-profit organisation with a mission to be the lead organisation promoting kidney and urinary tract health through research, consumer participation, education and health service excellence.

We achieve this by:

  • implementing awareness and education programs in conjunction with renal specialists, health professionals and educators to reduce the incidence of kidney disease in the community
  • funding cutting edge medical research into cures for kidney and urinary tract disease
  • providing a network of education, care and support for patients, their families and carers, promoting organ donation

This year marks 40 years serving the kidney community of Australia.

Commitment to excellence

We will lead by example and foster a positive and enthusiastic work environment by striving for best practice in every aspect of our work. We encourage the delivery of outcomes and gain each other’s commitment to business goals by actively encouraging participation and innovation. We will provide our customers with prompt, high quality service.

Commitment to caring

We will work safely. We are supportive of each other by being empathetic and compassionate. We are driven to meet the needs of our stakeholders and actively celebrate successes. We also recognise that the success and well being of our colleagues are influenced by our own behaviours and actions. We are especially compassionate to those whom this organisation serves.

Hard, smart work, but fun

We will find smarter ways of doing things better and encourage each other to set individual priorities to achieve agreed outcomes. We will focus our efforts on the issues that positively impact on business performance and promote an environment of fun. We are all responsible for creating a positive, vibrant and energised work environment.

Honesty and integrity

We deal with issues openly, honestly and ethically, while offering support and constructive feedback. We are trustworthy and are consistent in the messages that we send to each other and to our stakeholders. We will create an environment where people feel comfortable about being open and sharing information. Any organisation or member of the public will be dealt with, or referred to, in a fair and honest manner without resorting to disparaging comments or inappropriate criticism.

Loyalty - up, down and sideways

We recognise and accept formal authority and act in a fair, just and equitable manner. We will genuinely advocate on each other's behalf and act in the best interest of Kidney Health Australia, placing the needs of the organisation above the individual.

Professionalism

We will demonstrate a disciplined approach to delivering the agreed business plan and excellence in all forms of communication. We keep our promises to each other and to our customers, foster continuous improvement and make decisions objectively to enhance the credibility of Kidney Health Australia. We seek out responsibility and are accountable for our actions.

Sense of urgency

We recognise that every task is important to someone else and that they rely on our outputs. We will drive agreed actions to completion and take considered risks. We do not procrastinate.

Respect and equality

We do not discriminate against each other or our customers. We are courteous and are willing to be open and confront issues promptly. We are even-handed, inclusive and listen to each other. We concentrate on addressing issues to reach a solution rather than attributing blame.

Competitiveness

We understand that the competitor is the opposition and not the trendsetter. We aim to stay ahead of the crowd. We will cultivate a competitive spirit, and are tenacious, passionate and hungry to succeed. We will maintain clarity of business objectives and are driven by the delivery of agreed outcomes.
