Margie Raynor's Renal Ride for Kidney Health
Australia

Margie Raynor, primary school teacher cycled solo and unsupported from Adelaide to Sydney from 19 September – October 2010 to raise awareness of and much-needed funds for Kidney Health Australia. The ride was completely self-funded ride and raised $10,000 along the way. As a teacher, she talked to community and school groups on how to keep your kidneys healthy.

Margie is motivated as her youngest daughter, Alison, was born with vesicoureteric reflux and although an operation may or may not ease her condition, there is no cure and she needs to self-manage her condition.

In October 2005, Margie cycled across the Nullarbor Plains. In 2007 Margie once again cycled solo and unsupported around Australia, including Tasmania and Canberra, for Kidney Health Australia.

In 2008 she made another trip this time from Perth to Adelaide, thus completing 3 Nullarbor Plains crossings in 3 years. In 2009 she headed North and rode most of the way into a headwind from Adelaide to Darwin.

Details of all Margie's rides can be found at http://renalride10.blogspot.com and she has made a commitment to cycle every major highway in Australia for kidney research over five years.
