Creation of AV Fistula ..part one

Hi.(Remember not everyone will have the issues i have or will have) .Met my surgeon today, just to go over what was going to happen...He explained the procedure and acouple if issues with me one which included small veins and that he couldnt create the fistula in the lower part of my arm and he has to do it on the upper even though they are not the size he would prefer....and before surgery next friday 2nd sept i have to have another scan to mark where one of the veins are..He also asked why i have CKD even though i could clearly see that it was written in front of him lol..He was a bit scary i thought but thats just my opinion.I felt guilty that i have CKD and i am a burdon on the hospital system...but when i left i realised i have just as much right as everybody to recieve respect , dignity, and medical procedures..not gunna write the other diseases which are caused by peoples lifestyles ...One of the main reasons for not going to Drs for 5yrs was because of all the media about people shouldnt do this or that...When i was speaking to nurse she also went over procedure privided me with a stethoscope to listen for Swoosh Swoosh noise lol after i come home and a hand squezy thing to uses one week after procedure..and also what to look out for and what to do if any problems should occur..So by next friday im gunna be as scared as a cat with its tail in a mouse trap .Will update as soon as possible after procedure just to say how things went...( And i hope my surgeons in a better mood even though he was just making sure i knew the seriousness of everything he didnt have to scare the crap outta me ive had enough to deal with.and am still dealing with.)...Cheers Bella.

Ok, it over and done with and i hope they dont have to do it again, went into surgery emotional come out of surgery still emotional. i am having trouble hearing swoosh swoosh lol and i had to get a nurse to check today as i cannot feel the thrill either , she said its there just and it may take me a while to get used to it....so she kindly asked antoher patient if i could feel his thrill and it was there alright , hard to explain wierd vibration feeling anyway..My vistula is upper arm and its still sore and even my fingers are swollen which i hope is ok...Check up on friday ..so hope everything goes well..My emotions are really up in the air and im sure the reality of everything is finally hitting...i should calm down but might give my counselor a call in the morning..cheers bella

Its not working..back to se surgeon thursday...upset and also mad at my self.

Hi Bella, wow what a tough time for you , I do remember how daunting and over whelming it all was when I was lining up for dialisis (I did PD) I do recall the nurses saying that your thinking processes and emotional reactions can be thrown out of "whack" because of the build up of urea , when your brain is flooded with that toxin it really changes how you process everything maybe thats why you are so emotional etc so dont be toooo hard on yourself how can your brain function on dirty blood , I liken it to a car running on dirty petrol the engine will start spitting and sputtering ,so too for the renal brain ..... I am certainly not trying to minimise your experience as starting dialisis is "THE PITS" !!!! BUT !!! bella once you get that fisstulla going and you actually start dialisis you will feel sooooo much better hang in there girl , I recall how SICK I was before dialisis ,I felt so sick death was an option anything just let this sick feeling go away , after a week of dialisis I felt great !!! and as time went on I just got better and better , I really feel for you , take care hugs georgie

im just soooo tired of everything and everyone, im a bit dissappointed about how im being handled medically, and am about to give up..they dont explain things enough or my brain dosnt let it sink in lol..im sick of one doctor or another assuming that the other has told me something and they havnt so when i finally get told something its a shock to me the Dr or nurse treating me ...My arm is giving me alot of pain and tingling in my fingers, but theres no thrill at all were fistula was created..i was told by vascular nurse 4 days after surgery that Surgeon had some troubles creating it...Why didnt he tell me before i left hospital and also while recoverying in hospital overnight i abused people, my family nursing staff and even another patient, im not normally an angry person on the outside and never physically hurt anybody and i think ive had enough but im ashamed of my actions and hope they understand the stress im going through....im not sure what they want to do next, and i cannot get the thought of doing PD through my head it makes me feel even more sick to the stomach.and knowing my luck that wouldnt work either...im hoping they can try a graft , more like im gunna beg them to do a graft....ok by going back to bed feel super crappy today.
